Adele Wright
Adele has lived in the Sutherland Shire all her married life. She has three children and four grand-children. Adele picked up a paint brush some 30 odd years ago and attended one term of night classes at Port Hacking High for oil painting way back when her children were pre-schoolers. She put aside her paints soon after, as turps, oil paints and small children "do not mix". Over the years she took up sewing, stained glass, pottery and cake decorating, all with varying amounts of success and frustration.
Since retiring and with family and work commitments behind her, she decided to pursue her love of painting.
She became a member of the Sutherland Shire Art Society in July 2007 to be around people with the same interest and love of art. She felt fortunate to secure a spot at her first Paintathon at the Sharks Leagues Club in October 2007. She felt she learned so much from John Corby who paints beautiful, impressionistic oil paintings. Later a trip to Mudgee for two days painting 'plein air' with artist Allen Fizzell was equally inspiring.
Her paints and camera are always at hand during holidays and excursions that she takes her husband on, around this beautiful country. He is always encouraging: even making her a purpose built drawer which fits into the back of their 4x4 making it easy to access her paints on holidays. |
