Background:
Jan was born in Sydney and since the 1960s has lived in Sutherland Shire while raising a family. Her interests have included volunteer work, family, travel, history and art and craft.
Career:
While pursuing a secretarial career, Jan studied art at East Sydney Technical College. Further studies included certificates in art, ceramics and weaving at Gymea Technical College in the 1970s and Bachelor of Applied Arts at COFA, UNSW, in 1998. Jan has taught both art and craft.
Exhibitions and Awards:
Many local and country exhibitions and awards, including artist of the month (2002 and 2006) at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, Gymea, as well as People's Choice Award at an exhibition in 2004; second prize mixed media 2007 and exhibited at Lion Gate Lodge - Botanica 2007. Shared exhibition "Six Artists" at the Palm House May 2007. Botanica 2009. Highly commended for Abstract at Waterbrook, Yowie Bay, 2008. BASA Exhibitions Palm House - 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Jan's artwork is held in private collections in Australia and overseas.
Biography:
Whilst Jan has studied art in various forms over the years, more recently she has turned to botanical illustration. In 2002 she attended a course in Botanical Illustration at the Royal Botanic Gardens under tutors Marion Westmacott and Barbara Duckworth. Since 2001 she has attended various workshops, including those with Dianne Emery, Lesley Elkan and Catherine Wardrop and three with Fiona McGlynn in 2005 and 2006. In 2007 - Black and White Scientific Illustration - Lesley Elkan and Catherine Wardrop and Botanical Painting with Fiona McGlynn, also 2008.
